VIETNAMRIDER®’s world famous Mekong Delta motorcycle tour travels the original Mekong off-road, known as the “the Cuu Long Giang” or “Mien Tay”. Cuu Long Giang has been the path of migrants, dreamers, desperadoes and an entire generation of vacationers discovering the way southwest. The 1930’s were Mien Tay glory days, when thousands of boats rode bumper to bumper behind each other to experience the whole delta from east to west. Motels, floating markets, classic restaurants, and the “New” Western sprang up everywhere. Much of Mien Tay’s off-roads, boats, home stay, and nostalgic landmarks are preserved just as they were 200 years ago. The famous and nostalgic Mien Tay is the road created in heaven for motorcycle touring. Simply stated, this is the best 5 day tour of Mekong Delta in Vietnam!
Duration: 5 days – 4 nights.
Travel options: Guided Self-drive. Pillion passengers. Vietnam riders. Cars.

You will do homestay with a local family in the countryside in Mekong Delta.
DAY 2: THE OLD CAMBODIAN LAND – 180 km
Travel by the small roads from Tien Giang to the old land of Khmer Krom; they are ethnic Khmer who inhabit Kampuchea Krom, an area in southern Vietnam that was once part of the Khmer Empire. Among the Khmer Krom the belief is held that they are the descendants of ancient Funan, the core of Suvarnabhumi, which covered a vast extent of Southeast Asia including present day Cambodia, southern Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Burma, Malaya, Sumatra and other parts of Indonesia. Do 4 the boat trips to explore this region, visit the 1,000 years old Cambodian temples, visit the Cambodian villages. Homestay at local family in the countryside of Mekong delta.
DAY 3: THE FLOATING MARKET – 80 km
Continue to travel by the off-road through the Cambodian land to the west side of the Mekong delta. Stay overnight at the 2 stars hotel at the city or do homestay with cooking class and enjoy traditional Vietnamese dinner with locals in the countryside of Mekong Delta.
DAY 4: THE KILLING FIELD – 170 km
Wake up at 6 am for the boat trip to explore the famous floating market; farmers from the region bring their goods, fruits and vegetables mainly, to the markets and sell them to local dealers. These dealers sell the products to shops in the neighboring towns and to wholesale dealers from the big towns. In the picture you can see a local farmer with fruits for sale. All big boats have a pole. Each wholesaler hangs the goods he buys / sells on this pole. This way, people on small boats know where they have to go from a certain distance. On the floating markets you do not only find people buying and selling goods, you also find floating restaurants, floating bars, floating gas stations, and many other floating shops. Canals are here the easiest and fastest way of transportation. Continue to travel by the off-roads through the beautiful countryside with bridges and canals, no highway or touristy route. Try some local foods at the Khmer villages. Visit the historic Ba Chuc memorial – The Killing Field in South Vietnam, where the Khmer Rouge had killed over 4,000 Vietnamese women, children and old people in 7 days when they attacked this area in 1979. Stay overnight at a floating hotel.
DAY 5: THE OLD CHAMPA LAND – 190 km
We’ll take a boat trip to cross the Mekong river to explore the Cham village – it’s the last land of the Cham Kingdom before. From here we’ll travel about 100 km by the small roads and off-roads through the quiet countryside to return to Saigon. End tour.
